Olson, Meier lead Wildcats past St. Norbert

DE PERE, Wis. — St. Catherine University soccer picked up its first victory of the 2026 season Sunday afternoon, shutting out St. Norbert College 2-0 at Schneider Stadium. The Wildcats improved to 1-2-0 with the win.

St. Catherine controlled the match from the opening whistle, out shooting the Green Knights 14-3, including a 7-0 advantage in shots on goal. The Wildcats also held a 6-3 edge in corner kicks.

Emily Olson opened the scoring in the 20th minute, finding the back of the net at 19:04 off an assist from Bella Meier. The goal was Olson's first of the season and gave St. Kate's a 1-0 advantage that held through halftime.

The Wildcats continued to pressure St. Norbert after the break before Meier provided the insurance goal in the 80th minute. This time Olson returned the favor, assisting Meier's first goal of the season at 79:37 to put St. Catherine ahead 2-0.

Olson and Meier each finished with three points on one goal and one assist, with both putting two shots on frame. Ceci Emery also generated a pair of shots on goal as part of the Wildcats' attack.

In goal, Brianna Valdez played all 90 minutes and earned the shutout as the St. Catherine defense held St. Norbert without a shot on goal.

The Wildcats limited the Green Knights to just one shot in the opening half and two in the second while putting together their first clean sheet of the season.

St. Kate's returns to action Saturday hosting University of WIsconsin Eau Claire at home for a 1 pm non-conference game.
