MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team continued their strong early-season form with a dominant 7-0 victory over University of Minnesota Morris, controlling every court from doubles through singles. The teams third straight win puts them at 4-1 before opening conference play next match.
St. Catherine wasted no time setting the tone in doubles play.
Faith Simon and
Ashley King powered to a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles.
Ryanna Steinhaus and
Marie Pelletier followed with a flawless 6-0 decision at No. 2, while
Liliana Holmberg and
Melanie Gravdahl completed the sweep with another 6-0 victory at No. 3.
Singles competition showcased the Wildcats' depth and consistency. At the top of the lineup, Simon secured a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Holmberg controlled No. 2 with a 6-0, 6-1 performance, and Pelletier delivered a shutout at No. 3, winning 6-0, 6-0.
King added a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 4, while Steinhaus dominated 6-1, 6-0 at No. 5. Gravdahl closed out the match at No. 6 with a 6-3, 6-0 win.
St. Kate's opens the MIAC portion of their schedule against Concordia College on Sunday, Feb 22 with a 12 pm match at Courts Plus in Fargo, N.D.
