ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University volleyball team returned to
Butler Center on Saturday evening hosting nationally ranked Gustavus Adolphus for their first home Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) match. The Wildcats move to 5-11 overall and 1-1 in MIAC play.Â
The Gusties grabbed momentum early with a 25–19 win in the opening set, capitalizing on errors despite steady defensive play from the Wildcats. St. Kate's bounced back in set two with its best stretch of the match, hitting .158 behind eleven kills and five team blocks to even the match 25–22. Gustavus answered with a dominant 25–11 win in the third and closed out the night 25–21 in the fourth.
Liz Rosen anchored the Wildcat offense with nine kills and 18 digs, while Emily Bredman added seven kills and two blocks. Madison Fagan tallied six kills and a team-high four blocks. Setter Addison Preuss handed out 17 assists, and libero Alexa Carlstrom chipped in eleven digs and two aces.
St. Kate's faces MIAC foe, Hamline University on Friday, October 3 on the road. They return to Butler Center on Wednesday, October 8 hosting Macalester at 7 pm.Â
