Wildcats welcome Kobi Allen as assistant softball coach and intramural/rec sports coordinator

ST. PAUL, Minn. – St. Catherine University head softball coach Colleen Powers announced the addition of Kobi Allen as the program's new assistant coach. In addition to Allen's role with the softball team, he will also be spearheading the university's intramural and recreational sports programs as the department coordinator. Allen comes to St. Kate's by way of the Minnesota Twins, where he served as the Senior Coordinator for Community Engagement for the past five seasons.

"We are thrilled to welcome Kobi Allen to our program", said Powers. "His experience at the highest level of the game, combined with his passion for developing young athletes, makes him an incredible addition to our staff. Our players will benefit tremendously from his knowledge and energy."

As the Senior Coordinator for Community Engagement with the Twins, Allen was responsible for planning and organizing free youth clinics in more than 50 communities across the Upper Midwest to bring the fun and fundamentals of baseball and softball to more than 1,000 kids of all ability levels.

Allen was an NCAA Division I baseball student-athlete playing three seasons at the University of the Pacific before transferring to California State Monterey Bay to finish out his athletic career. He spent time assisting the Cal State Monterey Bay athletic department as an events and game operations assistant and was the Director of Operations for The First Base Foundation in Mill Valley, California. He is currently a volunteer firefighter/EMT in Golden Valley, Minnesota, and spent time at Breck High School as the head baseball coach. Additionally he served as the Black Sports Professionals Programs/Events Committee Chair and was a mentor for the Tech Stars.
