MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team dropped a MIAC match to No. 40 ranked Carleton College on Sunday afternoon at Baseline Tennis Center. St. Kate's falls to 4-2 in conference play sitting at 9-3 overall.
St. Catherine picked up a hard-fought win at No. 3 doubles, where
Monica Zink and
Ashley King battled through a close match to secure an 8-7 victory in a tiebreaker. Despite their efforts, Carleton controlled the rest of the competition, sweeping No. 1 and No. 2 doubles in convincing fashion.
In singles play, the Knights continued their momentum, winning all six matches, including a comeback victory in a battle with
Liliana Holmberg at No. 5 singles in a third-set tiebreak. Holmberg took set one 6-3 before falling 6-3 and playing a tiebreaker to 11-9 in favor of Carleton.
St. Kate's will host the College of Saint Benedict on Friday, April 4 at Baseline.
