ORLANDO, Fla. -- The St. Catherine University tennis team dropped their final match of their time in Orlando to NCAA Division II opponent, Minnesota State University, Moorhead 5-2.
The Dragons defeated the Wildcats in all three doubles matches to claim their first point of the dual. At No. 1 doubles,
Kelsey Dorr and Caitlyn Stradter fell 6-3 while
Faith Simon and
Erica Wing were defeated by the same score at No. 2 doubles.
Monica Zink and
Ashley King battled at No. 3 but were unable to overcome the Dragons losing 7-5.
Dorr took her first singles loss of the season at No. 1 as she was edged out 7-6 (4-0), 6-1. Simon was defeated at No. 2 6-3, 6-2 while Stradter scored the team's first point at No. 3 winning 6-4, 6-3. St. Kate's second point was earned at No. 6 by Marie Pelliter taking the match 6-1, 6-2. Moorhead's other two points were the result of a 6-4, 7-6 (4-0) win at No. 4 over Zink and a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 5 over
Liliana Holmberg.
The Wildcats return to Minnesota and MIAC competition traveling to Winona to face Saint Mary's University on Friday, March 21 at 6 pm.
