Wildcats finish as runner up in WildBear Invite

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- St. Catherine swimming and diving wrapped up the final day of the WildBear Invite securing multiple top-three finishes and closing the weekend second overall in the team standings. Senior Olivia Weil was the top scorer for St. Kate's with 86 points followed by junior Jordyn Grotbo with 57.5 and Ella Hochstetler with 57 points scored. 
 
The Wildcats opened finals competition with momentum in the 500-yard freestyle, where senior Olivia Weil clocked a 5:22.02 to finish third in the A-final. Teammate Nicolette Harvey joined her in the championship heat, placing sixth in 5:27.82 and adding valuable points. In the B and C finals, St. Catherine continued depth scoring with standout swims from Shea Bradley (5:36.16), Karina Chattopadhyay (5:46.28), and Anna Sewich (5:51.04), while Clare Cook, Carys Walsh, and Isabel Harden contributed important scoring swims throughout the field.
 
Weil returned later in the session with another podium finish, placing second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:26.85 in one of the tightest races of the night. St. Catherine continued to pack the scoring lanes behind her, with Sierra Hermansen earning ninth in 2:39.11, followed by strong swims from Richanta Pollard (2:46.87), Olivia Kauffman (2:47.10), Maka Chikowero (2:47.45), Elizabeth Gilman (2:51.84), and Hanne Graham Lawver (2:52.85). In separate time trials, Natalie Chandler posted a lifetime-performance mark of 2:44.16, with Pollard, Gilman, and Graham Lawver also improving their season standards.
 
In the 100 freestyle, sophomore Jordyn Grotbo delivered one of the Wildcats' top sprint performances of the day, tying for seventh in the A-final with a 55.90. Senior Ella Hochstetler added a B-final podium swim at 56.36, and veteran freestyle contributors Harvey (59.25) and others helped secure additional scoring across heats.
 
On the boards, senior diver Juliet Peterson delivered a strong performance with a fourth-place finish in 1-meter diving, earning a finals score of 284.56 and keeping St. Catherine in the scoring race.
 
The Wildcats closed the night with a strong relay performance, where the team of  Weil, Harvey, Bradley, and Grotbo posted a final time of 3:50.30, earning sixth in the 400 freestyle relay. Additional relay groups contributed points in the B and C heats, with deep roster participation helping secure the overall team result.
 
St. Catherine closed the meet in second place overall with 699.5 points, finishing behind Concordia St. Paul and ahead of University of Jamestown, Northern State, and Augsburg.
