ST. PAUL, Minn. — For the sixth time in program history, and fifth consecutive year, St. Catherine University Soccer will appear in the opening rounds of the NCAA Division III Tournament as the Wildcats earned a bid to the University of Chicago and will face the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse in the first round.
As the tournament host, the No. 7 ranked Maroons host the University of Wisconsin-Superior Yellowjackets as the first game of the opening rounds. St. Catherine earned the #24 national ranking and enters the tournament with one of their best seasons in program history and the second seed. University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse comes in as the third seed and a similar season as St. Kate's finishing 18-2-1 and the WIAC's playoff champion. The Wildcats and Eagles have only faced off three time in program history with the two most recent both going into double overtime and the Eagles the victors. The two teams first met in 2015 in St. Paul as St. Kate's won 2-0. The Eagles also have former All-American
Ari Green '23, '24 on their staff. Green had not yet joined the Wildcats in 2021 for their last match-up.
St. Catherine capped the regular season with a record of 16-2 and a claimed the program's third regular season championship title. This weekend marks a postseason moment for St. Catherine Soccer as the Wildcats take the field looking to extend their postseason run and advance to the Sweet 16.
