Weil paces Wildcats against Bennies and Oles

ST. PAUL, Minn. — St. Catherine Swimming & Diving put together a strong all-around performance on Saturday at the SCU/CSB/SJU/St. Olaf Double Dual, earning several top-three finishes and season-best swims across the board.
  
Senior Olivia Weil led the Wildcats with a win in the 1000 freestyle (11:21.81) and another victory in the 200 breaststroke (2:33.52). She also anchored the 400 freestyle relay, helping St. Kate's "A" quartet of Jordyn Grotbo, Shea Bradley, Weil, and Ella Hochstetler to a third-place finish in 3:52.12.
 
Jordyn Grotbo continued her steady early-season form with a pair of top-four finishes—3rd in the 200 freestyle (2:03.40) and 3rd in the 50 freestyle (26.47)—and opened the meet as the backstroke leg of the Wildcats' top 200 medley relay (1:55.35), which placed fourth overall.
 
Ella Hochstetler delivered a strong day of her own, posting 3rd in the 100 backstroke (1:02.64) and 3rd in the 100 freestyle (56.41). Senior Nicolette Harvey added a 4th-place showing in the 500 freestyle (5:41.92) and split 57.68 on the 400 free relay anchor.
 
Sophomore Clare Cook notched key distance points, finishing 7th in the 1000 free (13:04.30) and swimming in multiple relays, while senior Sierra Hermansen posted solid mid-distance times in the 200 (2:15.33) and 100 free (1:01.82).
 
In the stroke events, Shea Bradley and Olivia Kauffman went back-to-back in the 100 breaststroke, finishing with a non-suited best time in 8th (1:16.76) and 10th (1:17.09), respectively. Natalie Chandler and Richanta Pollard added scoring swims in the 200 backstroke (2:19.26) and 200 IM (2:39.07). Kauffman also had a time a non-suited best time 100-free time as the lead in the 400-yard relay. 
 
On the boards, junior Juliet Peterson turned in a strong performance with 7th on the 1-meter (286.90 pts), marking her highest dual-meet total this season. She completed six dives on the 3M board improving her best score 169.65 adding 40 points to her career best finish. 
 
St. Kate's returns to competition in two weeks heading to Macalester College on November 15.
