Hockey takes setback at No. 2 Wisconsin River Falls

RIVER FALLS, Wis. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team was downed by the No. 2 ranked Wisconsin River Falls Falcons on Thursday evening on the road. The Falcons defeated the Wildcats 12-1 at Hunt Arena putting St. Kate's at 3-8 overall on the season as they continue their non-conference stretch of the season. 

Rookie Ana Myers scored the Wildcats lone goal in the 60 minutes of play scoring cutting the Falcons 3-0 lead 38 seconds into the second period. Myers goal was assisted by junior Ellie Skaja and first-year Paige Fasching.

Following the quick second period goal, the Falcons went onto add nine additional goals over the Wildcats. 

Anna Friendshuh started in net for the Wildcats making 23 saves and allowing six goals before Lea Grassia entered the game halfway through the second period allowing six goals while facing 27 shots. 

The Wildcats will host the first ever collegiate game at Scheels Rink in Hastings, Minnesota on Saturday, January 11. The game against Lawerence University is sponsored by the United Heroes League at the site of Hockey Day Minnesota 2026.
