GRINNELL, Iowa -- The swimmers from St. Catherine University finished the 2025 Grinnell Invite with a seventh place score of 322.
Emma Svendsen led the Wildcats scoring 83 points in two days followed by
J Dombroski with 33 and
Ella Hochstetler with 31.
Saturday's finals started with the 200-yard medley relay and an eighth place finish for the Wildcats' A relay team of Hochstetler,
Olivia Weil, Svendsen, and
Jordyn Grotbo in at 1:53.54. St. Kate's B relay team of
Shea Bradley,
Avery Doom,
Natalie Chandler, and
Nicolette Harvey were 16th in the event clocking a time of 1:58.72 and the C relay was in 20th at 2:01.76.
Dombroski was the top finisher from St. Kate's in the 400-yard individual medley with a finals time of 4:55.67 in eighth. In the 200-yard freestyle, Grotbo clocked the top finish for St. Kate's in at 2:03.72 in 15th.
In the 100-yard butterfly, Svendsen finished third with a season best time of 59.01 just ahead of Hochstetler recording a seventh place time of 1:01.09.
Doom and Dombroski each appeared in the B final for the 100-yard breaststroke with Doom in at 1:13.19 and Dombroski in at 1:14.63.
Svendsen was the runner-up in the 200-yard backstroke clocking a time of 2:09.63 for her best placing of the finals. Hochstetler was 16th in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.51.
The invite concluded with the 400-yard freestyle and the Wildcats' B relay the top finisher for the team in 18th. The relay team of Svendsen, Harvey, Doom and
Mia Hocking finished with a time of 3:57.05. The C Relay of Grotbo,
Ava Hacker, Chandler, and
Richanta Pollard finished just behind with a time of 3:57.50 and the A relay of Hochstetler Bradley,
Eloise McKeon and
Charlotte Johnson were next at 3:57.66.
St. Kate's will compete again Saturday, January 25 traveling to the Concordia St. Paul Invite in Mendota Heights.
