Wildcats drop pair of MIAC games to Oles

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University softball team dropped a pair of conference games to St. Olaf College on Saturday afternoon in Northfield falling 6-5 in nine innings followed by a 4-1 loss in game two. The two losses puts the Wildcats at 8-14 overall with a 2-4 MIAC record. 

GAME ONE | St. Olaf 6, St. Catherine 5 (9i nnings)
St. Kate's was on the board first posting their first run in the opening frame with Taylor Brunn getting home. St. Kate's added their second run in the top of the third with Helen McKinnon hitting a home run into right field. The Oles didn't score until the bottom of the fourth inning with an unearned run to cut the lead in half. 

The Oles added three runs in the bottom of the fifth taking a two run lead off a three-run homer. Kylee Kohout drove in two runs in the top of the seventh to tie the game bringing in Serena Lee and Taylor Brunn. St. Kate's took the lead i the top of the eighth inning with Mayci Larson scoring off of Sam Aronson's sac fly to right field. The Oles evened the score again in the bottom of the inning forcing a ninth. The Oles held the Wildcats off before scoring the winning run in the bottom of the inning. 

GAME TWO | St. Olaf 4, St. Kate's 1
St. Olaf wasted no time carrying their momentum into game two getting on the board first in the bottom of the first. The Oles added two more runs in the bottom of the third inning holding a 3-0 advantage until the top of the sixth. Boyles drove in Lee for the Wildcats lone run in the top of the sixth but the Oles answered with one final run closing out the game 4-1. 

St. Kate's returns home on Tuesday hosting Carleton College for a doubleheader starting at 3:30 pm.
