ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team collected a 3-1 MIAC win over St. Olaf College on Saturday at Drake Arena. The conference win improves St. Kate's to 2-4 in the MIAC with an overall 3-6 record.
Sophomore
Halle Dunleavy scored the opening goal on Saturday for her second of the season. Her first period goal scored under six minutes in was assited by
Ana Myers and
Samantha Bogen.
The Wildcats second goal was credited to sophomore
Lilly Gillespie with five minutes remaining in the second with help from junior
Ellie Skaja building the 2-0 cushion going into the final frame.
Junior defender,
Raechel Painovich scored the Wildcats' third goal a minute into the third period while on a power play. Her first goal of the season was off a pass from Gillespie and rookie
Paige Fasching.
The Oles cut the shutout five minutes after Painovich's goal for a 3-1 decision to close out the MIAC series 1-1.
St. Kate's will take a break from contents returning to action on January 3 and 4 hosting Johnson and Wales Univeristy at Drake Arena.
