ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University soccer team was crowned the 2024 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Regular Season Co-Champions after a 3-0 defeat of the Bethel University Royals. The regular season finale earned the Wildcats' the top-seed in the MIAC Playoffs with a first-round bye and guaranteed hosting honors on Thursday, November 7. The regular season championship title is the Wildcats second in program history with the first earned during the 2021 season.
In the Wildcats fifth consecutive shutout and tenth of the season, St. Kate's dominated on both ends of the field. Junior
Natalie Pfleger tallied the game winner in the 12th minute posting her eighth goal. Pfleger tallied her second of the game and ninth of the season with help from
Ari Green.
Kallie Tuominen sealed the 3-0 victory for the Wildcats cushioning the tie breaker scenario over the Carleton College Knights to earn the Wildcats the No. 1 seed in playoffs.
Kate Praetz recorded her seventh shutout of the season making one save as Pfleger led the shot count with five shots on goal ahead of Green and Tuominen each adding three on goal.
The 2024 MIAC Playoffs are slated to begin on Monday, November 4 with No. 4 seed St. Olaf hosting No. 5 seed Augsburg while No. 3 Saint Mary's will host No. 6 Gustavus. The Wildcats will host the highest remaining seed after Monday's quarterfinal round on Thursday, November 7 at 2 pm.
