ST. PETER, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University softball team saw their season come to an end with a 4-1 loss to Gustavus Adolphus College in the first round of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Softball Playoffs. The team ended with an overall record of 19-20 and a conference record of 13-9.
The Gusties scored first as the Wildcats starting pitcher,
Erica Pronschinske walked three players in a row as they walked in a run in the bottom of the first inning. They scored again in the bottom of the second inning after off a sacrifice fly driving in the runner on third. Their scoring concluded in the bottom of the third adding two final runs.
St. Kate's was scoreless until the top of the fifth inning.
Helen McKinnon got things started for the Wildcats with a single up the middle to go out to steal second. McKinnon went on to score the lone run for St. Kate's off a hit from fifth-year
Jasmine Ziegler who brought in the rookie.
The final two innings were scoreless on both sides of the field for a final 4-1 win for Gustavus.
