ST. CLOUD, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team ended their impressive season with a heartbreaking loss to the College of Saint Benedict Bennies on Saturday in St. Cloud with a score of 3-1. The Wildcats close out the season 12-11-2 with an MIAC record of 6-10-2.
It was a scoreless game until four minutes remaining in the second period when the Bennies tallied their first goal of the game. They scored two minutes later taking the two-goal lead heading into the third.
The senior trio of
Marie Reimer,
Kaitlyn Blair, and
Laura Denchfield cut the lead in half with Reimer scoring her 14th goal of the season mid-way through the third.
The Wildcats pulled the goalie for one final attempt at tying at 18:00 in the third with the Bennies taking advantage of the open net and sealing the 3-1 win.
Kubicek had 22 saves in her final game in the purple and gold with Blair leading the shot count adding five on net.
