DULUTH, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team dropped game two of the conference series against the College of St. Scholastica on Saturday evening at Mars Lakeview Arena. The Saints came away with the conference sweep defeating the Wildcats 4-2 to close out 2023 with an overall record of 3-6-1. 
St. Scholastica was on the board first scoring their first with under six minutes to play in the opening frame. The Saints struck again half way through the second period holding onto a 2-0 lead until eight minutes into the third as they scored their third of the game. The added one final goal a minute and a half later holding a 4-0 lead with seven minutes left in the game.
Mirroring Friday's game, the Wildcats found momentum in the last half of the third period as junior 
Joslin Mumm scored the Wildcats first goal. Mumm's shutout ruining goal was assisted by senior 
Abby Pirkl and first-year 
Julia Wilson. 
Pirkl scored the team's second goal of the game with one second left on the clock from seniors 
Emmie Verhaagh and 
Madi Fleming. 
Sophomore 
Anna Friendshuh was in net for 51 minutes of the game allowing three goals and making 24 saves. First-year 
Lea Grassia made an appearance in the game for over six minutes giving up the Saints final goal while making five saves. 
St. Catherine is on break until 2024 when they travel east to face Salve Regina January 6th and 7th in Rhode Island. They return to play in Minnesota hosting Hamline on Friday, January 7.
