Hockey edged out by Pointers

STEVENS POINT, WIS. -- The St. Catherine University hockey team dropped game two of the non-conference series at Wisconsin-Stevens Point on Sunday afternoon 4-0. The Wildcats are now 2-2 overall opening MIAC play next weekend. 

St. Kate's was scoreless through 60 minutes posting a team total of 15 shots on net. Seniors Emmie Verhaagh, Abby Pirkl and Madi Fleming led with three shots each while six others had a shot each. 

Senior Abby Severson collected the loss playing the first two periods with the Pointers scoring in each frame. Sophomore Anna Friendshuh entered in the third allowing one goal in 17 minutes before the Wildcats went with an empty net for the extra skater. Stevens Point took advantage adding one final goal with under two minutes to play. 

St. Catherine opens the MIAC season on Friday hosting Augsburg University at Drake Arena at 7 pm.
