ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The No. 2 seed St. Catherine University soccer team is headed back to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Playoff Championship game after defeating the No. 5 seed Concordia College Cobbers on Thursday afternoon 2-0. The shutout win propels the Wildcats to the championship final for the third consecutive season and fourth time in program history.
Emily Hinze scored the game-winner in the semifinal game with under one minute to head into the half. The center back's goal was the result of a header into the top left corner of the net off a deflection from
Ayah Makled for Hinze's first goal of the season.
The Wildcats second goal came from
Ari Green for her 14th of the season, ten of which were scored against MIAC opponents.
Senior goalkeeper
Kate Praetz recorded her 13th shutout of the season moving back to the top, tied with WashU's goalkeeper Sidney Conner.
In the MIAC Championship final, St. Catherine will travel to Northfield, Minnesota on Saturday, November 4 facing the No. 1 seed, Carleton College at 1 pm.
