ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University swimming and diving team picked up a 192-77 win over the University of Jamestown on Saturday afternoon at Butler Center Pool. The Wildcats defeated the Jimmies on Senior Day honoring
Sammi Friedrich,
Anneke van Oosterom,
Gillian Durand, and
Andrea Voelker.
St. Catherine opened the meet with the 200-yard medley relay with Durand, J. Dombroski,
Emma Svendsen, and
Ella Hochstetler taking the top time of 1:53.43. The Wildcats were runners up with
Mary Morris,
Sierra Hermansen,
Natalie Chandler, and Voelker with a time of 1:55.27. In fourth was
Brooke Halverson,
Mia Hocking,
Ava Hacker, and Friedrich with a time of 1:59.68 and
Eloise McKeon,
Nicolette Harvey,
Richanta Pollard, and
Maka Chikowero finished fifth with a time of 2:07.96.
Olivia Weil clocked a top-time of 20:03.56 in the mile while rookie
Charlotte Johnson was second with a collegiate debut time of 21:34.22. In third was
Clare Cook with a mark of 21:51.11 and
Mackenzie Marthaler finished fourth in 22:03.26.
Jordyn Grotbo claimed the top time in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:03.28. Hacker was third with a lifetime best of 2:06.72 and McKeon rounded out the field with a time of 2:17.36.
Svendsen was the top finisher in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.92 while Dombroski finished third at 1:08.45. Hocking was just behind with a lifetime best time of 1:09.59 and Chikowero was fifth with a lifetime best time of 1:10.63.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, van Oosterom was the top finisher for St. Kate's clocking at lifetime best of 1:12.97 and Voelker was third with a time of 1:15.53. Pollard finished with a lifetime best of 1:17.26, good for fourth and Friedrich trailed in fifth at 1:17.37. Hochstetler was sixth in the event with a lifetime best of 1:17.62, Harvey was seventh at 1:17.94 and Durand finished eighth in 1:19.41.
Halverson was the solo competitor in the 200-yard butterfly with a lifetime best time of 2:40.34.
Morris took first in the 50-yard freestyle in 25.97 while Chandler was second with a time of 26.74 and Hermansen finished fourth with a time of 27.31.
Friedrich was the time finisher in the 100-yard freestyle at 57.69 and Halverson was fourth at 1:00.57. Johnson tallied a time of 1:04.80 in fifth, Cook was sixth at 1:07.34 and Marthaler had a time of 1:07.60, in seventh.
In the 200-yard backstroke, Grotbo recorded a time of 2:20.96 as the runner-up followed by van Oosterom at 2:22.85 in third and Weil fourth clocking a lifetime best of 2:26.55.
Dombroski had a time of 2:36.52 in the 200-yard breaststroke touching the wall first with Hocking second at 2:43.21. Chikowero finished the event third with a time of 2:56.71.
Svendsen won her second individual event in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:27.64 ahead of Voelker in second at 5:30.19. Durand finished third at 5:33.39, Hochstetler was fourth with a lifetime best finish of 5:37.32 and Harvey was fifth at 5:49.56. Pollard had a time of 5:56.33 and Hermansen finished at 5:57.09 coming in sixth and seventh, respectively. McKeon rounded out the team in ninth finished in 6:18.27.
Chandler finished third in the 100-yard butterfly at 1:02.93, Friedrich was fourth at 1:05.12 and Hacker finished fifth in the event at 1:06.08.
Svendsen's third individual win was in the 200-yard individual medley with a top time of 2:13.97 ahead of Morris at 2:18.48. In third was Dombroski at 2:20.67, van Oosterom was fourth at 2:21.17, and Chandler finished sixth with a lifetime best of 2:21.77. Hocking touched the wall in 2:23.72, in seventh, Chikowero was ninth at 2:39.72, while Johnson had a lifetime best of 2:41.89 and Marthaler had the eleventh place time at 2:41.95.
The meet closed with the 200-yard freestyle relay and the Wildcats taking the top three places. Durand, Hochstetler, Grotbo, and Hacker were first at 1:43.65. Hermansen, Voelker, Weil, and Halverson were the second place relay at 1:48.88, and Harvey, McKeon, Pollard, and Cook clocked in at 1:54.72 in third.
St. Catherine will close out 2023 at Macalester College on Friday, December 1 and Saturday, December 2.
