Soccer returns to MIAC Playoffs Thursday

The Wildcats earned the No. 2 seed making it back to the playoffs for the eighth consecutive season

ST. PAUL, Minn. -- The St. Catherine University soccer team is set to return to the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Soccer Playoffs for the eighth consecutive season hosting Concordia College Moorhead on Thursday, November 2nd at 2 pm. The reigning playoff championships earned a No. 2 seed after finishing the regular season with a MIAC record of 9-1-1. 

In 2022, the Wildcats were the No. 3 seed overall downing Macalester College in the quarterfinals 3-1. In the semifinal round, the Wildcats battled to a shootout win over the No. 2 seeded College of Saint Benedict Bennies before claiming their third conference playoff title with a 1-0 victory of Carleton College with a goal in the 105th minute from current senior Ari Green

The year prior, St. Catherine finished the season as the regular season and playoff champions defeating Gustuvus Adolphus in the semifinals, 5-0 before claiming the program's second MIAC playoff title with a 1-0 win over Saint Benedict. 

In the last showing against the No. 5 seed Concordia, the Wildcats picked up their only tie of the season coming to a 1-1 draw with the Cobbers. The winner of the Wildcats versus Cobbers will face the winner of No. 1 seed Carleton College and No. 6 Augsburg University. 

The MIAC Playoff Championship game will be played at the highest seed remaining on Saturday, November 4 at 1 pm. All games will be streaming on the MIAC Sports Network.
