SAINT PETER, Minn. -- The Wildcats lost their sixth straight game on Saturday, falling to Gustavus 95-45. The Gusties shot an impressive 58% from the floor and hit 12 of 24 three-point attempts. They made their first three-pointer less than a minute after the opening tip, and they led the rest of the way.
As in the Wildcats' previous game, Coach Mulhern started three first-years (Schimnowski, Fronk, and Elliot) along with the team's leading scorers, senior
Sam Orth and junior
Bree Glynn. They couldn't match the hot shooting and fast pace of the Gusties who built a double-digit lead in the first five minutes. That lead would balloon to a 41-point margin by the end of the half, as Gustavus had already scored 27 from beyond the arc.
The third quarter was contested a bit more closely, as six different Wildcats scored.
Kylie Wood contributed defensive intensity and six points in the quarter, as the Wildcats scored 18 to the Gusties' 20. The fourth quarter didn't hold much suspense, as the Gusties coasted to the win.
Greta Schimnowski led Wildcat shooters with 9 points, going 3-for-9 from behind the arc.
Marissa Fronk was next, scoring 8.
The Wildcats return home to face Carleton on Monday, February 7
at 7pm for Parents' Day.
