ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – The Wildcats dropped their fourth straight game on Saturday when they lost on the road to Bethel 74-42. The Royals never trailed in the game and improved their MIAC record to 10-5, while the Wildcats are now 4-8 in the conference.
The Wildcats struggled to score early: at the close of the first quarter they trailed 19-9. The second quarter was more closely contested with
Sam Orth scoring 7 points, and each team scoring eleven in the quarter.
The Royals heated up at the start of the third quarter, going on a 10-1 run and quickly pushing the lead to nineteen (40-21). St. Kate's chipped away at that lead, cutting it to twelve points with 3:39 left in the quarter. But a 6-0 run allowed Bethel to take an 18-point cushion into the fourth, where their hot shooting continued, and their lead swelled to thirty with 6:24 remaining in the game.
Sam Orth led Wildcat scorers with 15 points; she pulled down 10 boards and had 2 blocks.
Greta Schimnowski went 3-for-7 from the floor, scoring 7 points.
Bree Glynn had 4 points and 6 rebounds.
The Wildcats come home to face the first place Auggies on February 2
