Softball splits with UW-La Crosse Friday

WEST ST. PAUL, Minn. - The St. Catherine University softball team hosted the Univeristy of Wisconsin-La Crosse Eagles on Friday afternoon at the West St. Paul Dome for a two-game non-conference series. The Wildcats' split with the Eagles taking home the victory in game one with a score of 4-1 and fell in game two 6-3. 

Game One | St. Catherine 4, UW-La Crosse 1
Junior right handed pitcher Kathryn Proper collected the win striking out a season-best 12 batters in the first game against the Eagles. Pitching a complete game, Proper allowed just five hits with only one run and walked two. 

The Wildcats tallied 9 hits in game one led by Alex Ehde going 2-2 with one RBI and one run. 

Game Two | St. Catherine 3, UW-La Crosse 6
St. Kate's had the lead again over the Eagles until the bottom of the third inning where they took a two run lead and again in the bottom of the fourth adding three more. 

The Wildcats had 9 hits again in the second game with 3 runs and getting walked three times. Rookie Hannah Fry was 2 for 4 in the loss while Alyssa Montero hit a triple late in the game going 1 for 4 with one run. 

Annabelle Schutte started in the circle for the Wildcats allowing five hits and walking four. After the Eagles scored three in the bottom of the third, Al. Montero took the circle for the fourth inning allowing a single homerun plus a two-run homerun off of four hits. Proper finished the game in the circle for St. Kate's striking out seven to close out the last two innings.
