ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Catherine hockey wrapped up the 2019-20 season with a 8-0 loss to the No. 8 Hamline University Pipers on Saturday afternoon at Drake Arena. The Wildcats finish the season 8-14-2 with a Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) record of 5-11-2.
Hamline scored three goals in the opening period making an early statement to St. Kate's that they were ready to mirror game one of the conference series. The Pipers netted two more goals in the second period for the 5-0 lead with one period remaining. In the last two minutes of play, the second ranked MIAC team sealed the victory with three additional goals over St. Catherine.
Junior
Emilee Anderson and the rookie duo of
Lindsey Hays and
Laura Denchfield all contributed two shots each in the final game of the season.
Sophomore goaltenders
Elizabeth Kubicek and
Karly Schmidt split time in the net on Saturday with Kubicek making 18 saves on 23 shots and Schmidt with 16 saves on 19 shots.
Seniors
Lexi Muller and Victoria Gruett concluded their four years in the purple and gold as they are set to graduate this spring. As the team captain this season, Muller finished her four-year careers with St. Catherine hockey scoring 10 goals with 36 assists for 46 total points, ranking T8th place for career assists. Victoria Gruett wraps up her four-years with 5 goals and two assists.
