Wildcat volleyball sweeps Martin Luther for third straight 3-0 win

ST. PAUL, Minn. - St. Catherine volleyball put on a show in the home opener Wednesday evening at the Butler Center against the Martin Luther College Knights (0-5, 0-0 UMAC). The now 4-1 Wildcats swept the Knights 3-0 for their third consecutive 3-0 (25-13, 25-18, 25-17) win and fourth overall this season.

Erin Cutts led the Wildcats with 8 kills while Emma Nelson added 7. Cutts also had 5 block assists on the match while rookie Marissa Gilbertson added 5 aces.

The sophomore duo from Faribault, Grace Amacher and Lauren Isaacson both contributed 8 digs for the purple and gold while Isaacson also added 5 kills.

Coach Nelson in his 3rd season at St. Catherine said following the home opener win, "It was so nice to play in front of a great home crowd!  The energy from the crowd really helped us get out to a fast start in each of the sets. I thought we did a good job throughout the match of keeping pressure on Martin Luther with our serve".

The Wildcats travel to Storm Lake, Iowa on Saturday, September 7 for a triangular with Maranatha Baptist University and host Buena Vista University. The first match is set to begin at 12 p.m. with the second immediately following.
