Amora Valencia scored the lone St. Catherine goal on Wednesday evening against No. 17 University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Valencia's second of the season was assisted by sophomore
Sofia Campbell and first-year Mandy Elton in the 64th minute. St. Kate's put up a tough battle against the Eagles but ultimately fell 2-1 in 109 minute of play.
The game remained scoreless until the 47th minute when UW-La Crosse netted their first goal of the game holding the 1-0 lead until Valencia knotted the game at 1-1. The Eagles second goal came with 34 seconds remaining in the second OT.
Elton led the Wildcats with five shots and 2 shots on goal, followed by Campbell who also had five shots against the Eagles.Â
St. Catherine travels to the University of Northwestern-St. Paul on Saturday for a 7 p.m. game. The Wildcats return home on September 21 for a 1 p.m. game against Carleton College to open the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) season.Â
