ST. PAUL, Minn. –
Audra Clark and
Danica Cambrice put on quite a show on Wednesday evening in the 62-57 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win over Hamline University. Both Clark and Cambrice had 21 points against the Pipers advancing the Wildcats overall record to 10-12 overall and 7-9 in the MIAC.
St. Catherine had an early lead over Hamline up 16-10 after the 1
st quarter. Outscoring the Pipers 15 to 7 in the 2
nd quarter, the Wildcats held a 31-17 lead at the half. Clark tallied 13 points and 2 steals in the first half as Cambrice added 6 points.
The Pipers rallied back in the 3
rd quarter scoring 25 points to the Wildcats 17. St. Kate's personal fouls were much to credit as the Pipers went 8-8 at the free throw line in just 10 minutes.
Headed into the 4
th and final quarter, the Wildcats still held a 48-42 lead over the Pipers. Hamline continued to pressure St. Kate's outscoring them again by one point, but their efforts were not enough to overcome the lead the Wildcats built in the first half of the game.
In total, Cambrice had 21 points, 6 boards and 2 blocks while Clark had 21 points, 5 assists, 3 steals, and 2 rebounds this evening. First-year
Taylor Johnson had a big game posting 9 points, 2 rebounds and 2 steals. All 9 of Johnson's points were 3-point shots under pressure.
Clark now has a career points record of 1,442 and just 31 point shy of the program record with three games remaining on the regular season.
St. Catherine will travel to Gustavus Adolphus on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game in St. Peter. St. Catherine topped the Gusties earlier this season for the first time since 2008, 64-58. The Wildcats return home for Senior Day on Saturday, February 16 at 1 p.m. vs. Macalester.
