Volleyball finishes season falling 3-1 to Bethel

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. -- The 2019 season has come to an end for St. Catherine volleyball falling to the Bethel University Royals 3-1 on Saturday evening. The Wildcats finished their season 14-11 overall and 4-7 in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) standings, 

The Royals took the first two sets from the Wildcats with set scores of 25-21 and 25-17 before St. Catherine edged Bethel out in the third set with a score of 25-22. In the final set of the match, Bethel secured the win taking the set at 25-18. 

Sophomore Lauren Isaacson was the standout of the night with a season-high 14 kills, three blocks and two digs with a hitting percentage of .300. Isaacson's classmate, Bryana Leverentz tallied her season-best kills effort of 11 kills and one block hitting .214 in the four-set match. Isaacson was third on the team for kills this season with 202 and tied for third with 164 digs. 

Junior Erin Cutts was third on the team in kills hitting .350 with 10 kills while recording four digs and two service aces. Cutts finished second on the team this season in kills with 211 averaging 2.54 per set and ranking No. 5 in the MIAC for a hitting percentage of .301. 

Rookie Abbi Harker had 25 assists to go along with her 10 digs and two aces. Harker finished the season tied for first with Cutts both with 31 this season and tied for third with Isaacson with digs. 

In the top-spot for digs is sophomore Grace Amacher who had 21 digs in four sets against the Royals. Amacher recorded a season total of 424 digs averaging 4.51 per set. 

Holding down the No. 1 spot in kills and No. 2 spot for digs is senior Emma Nelson. In her final season for St. Catherine, Nelson posted 251 kills with twelve double-digit games. Nelson also tallied 410 digs on the season averaging 4.41 digs per set. In her final match, Nelson added 17 digs and nine kills.
