RIVER FALLS, Wis. - The now 6-3 St. Catherine University volleyball team split on day two at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls Invite. In the first match this morning, the Wildcats battled Simpson College out of Iowa to come out the victors 3-1. In the final match of the tournament, St. Kate's fought hard against UW-Stevens Point but couldn't get past the Pointers defensive.

Erin Tebben (New London, Minn. / New London-Spicer) had a great first match this morning racking up 6 blocks and 6 kills against Simpson. Junior outside hitter
Emma Nelson (Byron. Minn.) led the way again for the Wildcats with 13 of the teams 57 kills, 3 blocks and 15 digs. Nelson has had a great start to her junior season this far racking up over 60 total kills in just 9 matches. First-year libero
Grace Amacher (Faribualt, Minn.) continues to performance each time on the court with 16 digs today and one ace. Amacher currently lead the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) averaging 5.62 digs per set and 163 on the season.
The team accumulated 15 kills and just two errors in the first set compared to the Storms 10 kills and 6 errors. It was the fourth set though where the Wildcats ran away with the match totaling 18 kills doubling the other side of the nets efforts with just 9 kills.

In their third and final match of the tournament, the Wildcats efforts were just not enough to get past University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. The team was led by first-year
Lauren Isaacson (Faribualt, Minn.) at the net with 11 total kills and 5 digs. Isaacson has performed well in her debut season with the Wildcats appearing in all 9 matches and amassing 52 kills. Her longtime teammate Amacher had a solid show again in the teams 3 set loss with 23 digs.
The Wildcats were able to challenge the Pointers from Stevens Point in the first two sets forcing them to 25-27 in the first and 23-25 in the second. It was in the third set though where the Pointers overpowered St. Kate's in the third set doubling the Wildcats kills at 16. St. Kate's led the match over Stevens Point in aces with 6 to their 4 and blocks with 4 to their 3.
The Wildcats are home again this Wednesday, September 19 against MIAC opponent Bethel University at 7 p.m. for Faculty Appreciation and Camper Reunion night.
