Wildcat soccer to play under the lights at Macalester

ST. PAUL, Minn. - After adjusting the start time due to excessive heat in the forecast for Saturday afternoon, the Wildcat soccer team (3-0, 1-0 MIAC) will now play at 7:30 p.m. under the lights at Macalester College. Contests across the Twin Cities were impacted by the forecasted weather following the newly implemented Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Weather Policy determines conditions are not safe for the well-being of student-athletes.

After opening the MIAC season in a thrilling 1-0 victory over Augsburg University, the Wildcats continue conference play this weekend against the Macalester College Scots. The 1-3, 0-1 MIAC Scots, opened their conference season on Tuesday as well with a 1-2 loss to Hamline at home.

When the Wildcats and Scots met last season, the teams tied 0-0 after 2OT on the campus of St. Kate's. Junior keeper Tayler Koop (Blaine, Minn.) started the game for the Wildcats playing 45 minutes and facing 0 shots. The game leader last year was now junior forward Allie Bird (Maple Grove, Minn.) with 8 shots and 4 shots on goal. In the past three seasons when the Wildcats faced the Scots, the Wildcats went 1-1-1.

Macalester is a familar place for head coach Jesse Campos as he was the assistant coach of the Scots for six seasons prior to coming to St. Catherine University. Campos was part of the coaching staff when the Scots bet the Wildcats the last time in 2016. Tomorrow Campos looks to return to his former home for the first time on the other bench and return to his new home finishing the senior players record against Macalester 2-1-1.
