Volleyball opens conference season at College of Saint Benedict on Wednesday

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Conference plays starts for all Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) volleyball teams on Wednesday, September 12 with the Wildcats headed north take on the College of Saint Benedict Bennies at 7 p.m. Newly nicknamed the Bennies after decades as the Blazers, the team is coming off an MIAC conference playoff win and trip to the NCAA tournament. The Wildcats however, did not have as successful season last year but look to show they are a different team and ready to play!

When these two teams met last year to open up the conference season, the then Blazers came out the victors in four sets. In that match, now seniors Emily Carman (Maple Grove, Minn. / Osseo) and Mackenzie Peper  (Osceola, Wis.) were key at the net collecting seven and eight kills respectively. Peper also added 4 blocks in the match.

Head coach Todd Nelson will look to Carman and Peper on Wednesday playing the role of the experienced veterans that know what to expect from the Bennies. Sophomore transfer Erin Cutts (Osceola, Wis.) is coming off a fantastic weekend where she was the lone Wildcat named to the Northland College Tournament All-Tournament Team. Cutts racked up 23 kills total on the weekend and nine blocks.

Wednesday's match against the Bennies is set to begin at 7 p.m in Claire Lynch Hall on the campus of College of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn.

The match will have both live stats and be streamed here: https://portal.stretchinternet.com/csb/
