Game Recap: Hockey |

Game two with Hamline results in 6-1 loss Saturday

ST. PAUL, Minn. - The first time playing at the new Tria Rink was in favor of the home team on Saturday afternoon as the Wildcats dropped game two of the conference series with Hamline 6-1.

After coming within one goal of the No. 7 Hamline University Pipers on Friday afternoon, St. Catherine was unable to bring the same intensity in game two.

The Pipers were first on the board again Saturday five minutes into the first period to lead 1-0 after one. Similar to game one, the Pipers overpowered the Wildcats in the second period again getting a 4-0 lead.

With under two minutes remaining in the second period, Laken Muller scored her third goal of the season from Lexi Muller and Tori Thompson

Head coach Brad Marshall noted, "Saturday games are tough right now for our team. When we don't have the same competitive factor and the willingness to hold each other accountable from Friday to Saturday, we will continue to struggle. We need to be an all-around better team on Saturday's."

The Pipers scored two additional goals in the third period for a final score of 6-1 Hamline.

St. Catherine is on the road to Concordia Wisconsin next Friday and Saturday for a non-conference two-game series. The Wildcats return to St. Paul at Drake Arena for one final game in 2018 on Friday, Dec. 14 against University of Wisconsin - Eau Claire at 7:30 PM.
