Volleyball hosting Faculty/Staff appreciation match Wednesday

ST. PAUL, Minn. - There are many benefits to being a Division III student-athlete at St. Catherine University with one of the greatest benefits being the faculty and staff dedicating their lives to to educating and training women to be leaders. The St. Catherine University Wildcat volleyball team dedicates a home match each season to recognizing the professors, coaches, advisors and so many more working with the Wildcats off the court.

With World Teacher Day this past Friday, October 5, the Wildcats selected Wednesday's 7 p.m. home match vs. St. Olaf College to honor those who have impacted their time while student... athletes at St. Kate's and have invited those individuals to be recognized following the 2nd set on court.

The Wildcats are coming off a week of record performances taking down UW-Superior on Wednesday in an intense 5 set match and holding Macalester College to just 27 points in a three set sweep Saturday. First-year Grace Amacher (Faribault, Minn.) collected 55 digs in 8 sets averaging 6.875 digs per set last week.

Amacher will take on a new team on Wednesday as the Oles come to town for the Wildcats second annual Purple Rain match. The Oles are currently 3-3 in conference play and 16-5 overall picking up wins in the last three matches to UW-Superior, Bethany Lutheran and Crown.

In the match against St. Olaf last season, the Wildcats fell in three straight sets in Northfield. Outside hitter Mackenzie Peper (Osceola, Wis.) led the Wildcats in the three sets with 7 kills along with defensive specialist, Larissa Kisch (Oakdale, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall) adding 10 digs.

St. Kate's will look to pick up their third straight win Wednesday evening and their second Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win in a row. The match will be broadcast live on St. Kate's Stretch Internet Page and TJsportsonline.net
