Basketball set for rematch against Macalester

ST. PAUL, MINN. – On December 13, the St. Catherine University basketball team played one of its most thrilling games of the 2017-18 season. The Wildcats, then 0-3 in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play, were looking for their first conference win of the season against Macalester College. Thanks to a historic 30 point performance from Danica Cambrice (St. Paul, Minn. / St. Croix Lutheran), St. Kate's left the Leonard Center with a 72-67 win over the Scots.

Fast forward to January 24, 2018. The Wildcats are once again facing Macalester in the hopes of getting back on the winning track. This time, the game will take place in the Butler Center Gym at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening.

Live stats and video will be available to those who cannot make the trip to St. Paul, Minnesota. Score updates can also be found on St. Kate's official Twitter page (@stkateswildcats).

Here are the five to know before Wednesday night's tip off:

30 – Cambrice scored a career high 30 points in St. Kate's last meeting with Macalester after shooting 76% from the floor and going 4-4 from the free throw line. The sophomore tied the school record for field goals made in a single game (13) with her performance and is now fifth all-time in single game scoring for the Wildcats. Cambrice earned MIAC Athlete-of-the-Week honors for her performance.

82 – In the Wildcats previous match up against the Scots, Cambrice, Alexis Garcia (Minnetonka, Minn. / Hopkins) and Meg Clark (Kenyon, Minn. / Kenyon-Wanaming) accounted for 82% of the team's total offense. Garcia scored a then season high 16 points while Clark added 13, as the two seniors combined to score 29 total points for St. Kate's. Combined with Cambrice's 30, these three Wildcats scored 59 of the team's 72 points that evening.

7Jackie Radford (St. Paul, Minn. / Cretin-Derham Hall) also had a historic performance against Macalester back in September. The sophomore tallied a career high seven assists in the victory, which is tied for fifth all-time in single game assists.

4-3 – St. Kate's has put together a pretty nice record in the Butler Center this season. The Wildcats are currently 4-3 at home with a 2-2 mark against MIAC opponents. In the month of January, St. Kate's has posted a 2-1 record in the Butler Center Gym thanks to MIAC victories over Saint Mary's and Concordia.

25.8 – Macalester has been one of the top defensive rebounding team, especially against MIAC opponents, this season. The Scots are currently averaging 25.8 defensive rebounds per game versus conference opponents, thanks in large part to senior center Regan Fruh. Fruh is currently averaging 7.9 rebounds per game against MIAC opponents, which ranks fifth in the conference.
