ST. PAUL, MINN. – The busy season is just starting for the St. Catherine University softball team. After splitting against the University of St. Thomas on Wednesday, the Wildcats will take on two more Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) opponents over the weekend, Bethel University and Carleton College, in back-to-back doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday.
St. Kate's weekend will start against Bethel. The Wildcats will host the visiting Royals on Saturday with game one of the doubleheader set to start at 1 p.m.

Here are the five things to know before the Wildcats MIAC doubleheaders this weekend:
17 – The number 17 was involved in many ways in Wednesday's doubleheader against St. Thomas. The Wildcats beat the No. 17 ranked Tommies 10-4 in the first game of the doubleheader, which was the first time St. Kate's has ever beat St. Thomas on the road during the regular season in program history. The Wildcats also scored a combined 17 runs against the Tommies, the most runs St. Thomas has allowed to any opponent in a single season since March 28, 2015.
8 – Bethel's second game against Saint Mary's on Wednesday was suspended due to darkness. The Royals and Cardinals are currently tied 3-3 in the top of the eighth inning.
8/3 – St. Kate's pitching staff of
Krista Flugstad (Bloomington, Minn. / Jefferson),
Kailee Berquam (Kenyon, Minn. / Kenyon-Wanamingo),
Maddie Greer (Oakdale, Minn. / North St. Paul) and
Hannah Johnson (Milaca, Minn. / Milaca) currently leads the MIAC in overall shut out wins with eight. They are currently second in the MIAC in conference shut outs (3) as well.
92 – Carleton pitcher Sam Kile struck out 92 batters this season, the third highest total in the MIAC. She has also struck out 27 conference opponents in 28.1 innings of work.
3 – The Wildcats have three individuals ranked in the top-5 in the MIAC in home runs this season. Reigning MIAC Softball Player-of-the-Week
Amber Montero (Circle Pines, Minn. / Centennial) and
Jenna George (Ellsworth, Wis. / Ellsworth) are currently tied for the lead with four home runs while
Kylie Macziewski (Bloomington, Minn. / Jefferson) is currently in a tie for second with three home runs this season.
