Basketball returns home to face UW-River Falls

ST. PAUL, MINN. – After 14 days away, the St. Catherine University basketball team is finally coming home. In a December filled with ups and downs and three straight road games, the Wildcats will play just their third game of the season in the Butler Center Gym, as they host the University of Wisconsin-River Falls at 3 p.m. Saturday afternoon.

Games between St. Kate's and UW-River Falls have been nothing short of dramatic throughout the past few years, as the Wildcats have dealt the Falcons several debilitating losses. However, home court advantage has not been kind to St. Kate's this season, as the team has posted a 1-1 record in just two home games in the first half of 2017-18.

Fans who can't make the trek to St. Paul can watch online via live stats and video, while score updates can be found on St. Kate's official Twitter page (@stkateswildcats).

Here are the five facts to know before Saturday's 3 p.m. tip off:

2 – Last season's game between the Wildcats and Falcons certainly did not lack any drama, as St. Kate's won its second straight game 61-59 thanks to a buzzer beater by then senior Kennedy Jennings (Grimes, Iowa / Dallas City-Grimes). St. Kate's and UW-River Falls were deadlocked 59-59 and seemingly destined for overtime with five seconds remaining in regulation. The Wildcats, though, made their final possession count, as Jennings scored a layup at the buzzer to secure the 61-59 win for St. Kate's.

72 – The Wildcats enter Saturday evening's game with winning momentum on their side thanks to a 72-67 win over Macalester College on Wednesday. The game marks St. Kate's first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win of the season and snapped the Wildcats three game losing streak.

76.5 – Sophomore forward Danica Cambrice put together quite the performance in Wednesday evening's win over Macalester. Cambrice scored a career high 30 points thanks to 76.5% shooting from the field and pulled in 11 rebounds for her third double-double of the 2017-18 season. Cambrice also managed to etch her name in St. Kate's record books, as she is tied for fifth all-time for points in a single game (30) and tied the school record for field goals made in a single game (13).

16 – Senior guard Meg Clark (Kenyon, Minn. / Kenyon-Wanamingo) also had a monster game for the Wildcats Wednesday night. Clark nearly tied her career-high in points, falling just one shy with 16 points in 28 minutes of play. Clark also shot 50% from the field in the game, going 4-8 with seven made free throws in nine attempts.

10.8 – Sophomore forward Jackie Radford continued to rise up the MIAC rebound standings, as she now leads the MIAC in total rebounds (43) and rebounds per game (10.8) versus conference opponents.  Radford also ranks in the top-5 in multiple overall categories this season. The sophomore ranks fifth in the conference in overall rebounds per game average (8.7) and fourth in total rebounds (78).
