Basketball faces Crown to open busy week

ST. PAUL, MINN. – There's no rest for the wicked, and this upcoming week, the wicked includes the St. Catherine University basketball team.

Fresh of its first Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) win of the season, St. Kate's isn't wasting any time getting back on the court. The Wildcats will play three games this week, two on the road and one at home, in their toughest stretch of the season to date.

St. Kate's big week starts Monday night, when it's will take on Crown College at 7 p.m. in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota. Monday night's game is the team's lone nonconference game of the week, as the Wildcats will play Concordia College and Augsburg College later in the week.

Live stats will not be available for this evening's game against the Storm. However, score updates will be made, when available, on St. Kate's official Twitter page (@stkateswildcats).

Here are the five things to know before tonight's action:

12 – Last season's 89-58 win over Crown was the only time nearly every player saw floor time for the Wildcats as 12 of the team's 13 rostered student-athletes played in the game.

4 – St. Kate's also had four athletes score in double digits in last year's win over the storm. Then sophomore guard Audra Clark (Kenyon, Minn. / Kenyon-Wanamingo) was the team's leading scorer with 17 points, while then juniors Kennedy Jennings (Grimes, Iowa / Dallas Center-Grimes) and LaShay Holt (Minneapolis, Minn. / Humboldt) scored 14 points each. Annie Schoeben (Brooklyn Park, Minn. / Osseo) was the final member of St. Kate's team to score in double digits against Crown with a season high 12 points.

1st – The Wildcats enter Monday night's game fresh off their first MIAC win over St. Olaf College on Saturday. St. Kate's outscored St. Olaf in three out of the four quarters and scored 69 points to move to 1-1 in the MIAC and 4-2 overall.

21–Holt recorded her first double-double of the season in Saturday's 69-51 win over the Oles, bringing her career mark to 21. The 21 total, though, wouldn't be possible without the first. Holt recorded the first double-double of her career in November of 2013, when she scored 17 points and pulled in 11 rebounds against none other than Crown College.

130 – Statistically, the Storm have scored the most points in the second and fourth quarters of games this season. Through the first five games of the season, Crown has scored a combined 130 points in those two quarters compared to scoring just 116 points in the first and third quarters.
