Box Score After clinching an Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) postseason berth with a 4-0 win Friday night against St. Olaf College, the St. Catherine University hockey team looked for the season sweep in a rematch the next day. Unfortunately, the Wildcats suffered a tough 2-1 to the Oles with just over a minute to play in overtime, settling for a series split Saturday afternoon in Northfield, Minn.
After a skating to a scoreless first period, the Oles got on the board first at 13:48 of the second period on a goal from Katie Moeller. The Wildcats managed to hold on to the tie to force overtime and looked as if they might settle for tie and three points on the season. However, Sara Lind felt otherwise as she beat
Samantha Geissler (Elk River, Minn.) with 1:01 to play in extra minutes to give the Oles their sixth MIAC win of the season and the split.
Geissler finished the game with a remarkable 34 saves, while Okerstrom's assist brings her to 10 points on the season which ties
Bailey Rasmussen (Grand Rapids, Minn.) for the most on the team.
With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 11-10-1 overall and 8-7-1 in the MIAC. Before concluding the MIAC regular season next weekend again Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn., the Wildcats will host No. 6 UW-River Falls in non-conference play Tuesday evening at Drake Arena in St. Paul.
