The St. Catherine University basketball team continued its impressive start to the season with an unbelievable upset of Bethel University Wednesday to open the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) schedule. Unfortunately, the Wildcats snapped their three-game win streak after falling 61-50 to Gustavus Adolphus College in the final minutes of the game Saturday afternoon in St. Peter, Minnesota.

The game opened up in favor of the Wildcats as they jumped out to an early lead and were even up by seven with 13:23 to play in the first half. As a team, the Wildcats made four 3-pointers in the first half to put the pressure on the talented Gusties who managed to pull away late in the opening half for a narrow 32-27 lead going into the break.

However, the Wildcats came out strong with a 6-0 run to regain the lead just 1:49 into the second half. The Wildcats continued to remain strong as they held a lead with less than 10 minutes to play in the game before the Gusties took a small lead. The Wildcats regained the lead and were up by four points with 7:25 remaining to play, but the Gusties finally broke away for the win going on a 15-1 run to end the Wildcats' hopes of defeating the Gusties for the first time since 2008.
