After going 1-3 this past weekend at the Sugarloaf Classic, the St. Catherine University volleyball team used an all-around team effort with 11 players recoding offensive statistics to rebound to a 3-0 victory over North Central University (Minn.) Tuesday evening in Minneapolis.
Leading the way was Maddy Mullins (Caledonia, Minn.) who recorded a team-high nine kills and also contributed three block assists to the Wildcats' seven total blocks. Fellow first-year Shelby Rachel (Maple Lake, Minn.) hit .600 on the night as the most accurate Wildcat attacker and also tallied nine digs to lead the way defensively.
Also strong offensively was middle blocker Alyssa Besch (Lakeville, Minn.) who was just behind Mullins with eight kills and had a team-high four block assists and the only solo block of the evening.
Setters Karsee Knutson (New London, Minn.) and Ashley Kahlow (LeSueur, Minn.) each dished out seven assists and a dig, while Jordyn Wentland (Blaine, Minn.) had four and three of the Wildcats' total 16 service aces. Abigail Palmer (Pequot Lakes, Minn.) led the Wildcats with four aces on the evening.
Defensively, Marnie Gubash (Blaine, Minn.) and Megan Pohlmann (Grey Eagle, Minn.) were also big contributors with seven and six digs, respectively.
The Wildcats return to action this weekend at the Hamline University Invitational and are slated to take on Crown College Friday at 4 p.m., before turning around to face Ripon College at 6 p.m.
