The St. Catherine University softball team finished its spring break trip with a 6-2 loss to Loras College before picking up a 3-0 shutout of Kalamazoo College Wednesday in Clermont, Fla.

In the loss to Loras, the Wildcats took an early 1-0 lead when Alyssa Luedtke (Spring Lake Park, Minn.) scored off an Alyssa McKee (Spring Lake Park, Minn.) RBI. Loras then used three two-run homers in the first, fifth and sixth innings to hand the Wildcats a non-conference loss.

The bright spot of the game came when first-year Alyssa Besch (Apple Valley, Minn.) hit her first collegiate home run to lead the Wildcats at the plate. Shae Elliott (Richfield, Minn.) picked up two hits in the loss, while Jessica Tyminski (Champlin, Minn.) hit her second double of the season.

After picking up two wins earlier in the spring break trip, Morgan Bohmbach (Red Wing, Minn. ) continued to impress from the mound as she picked up her second complete game against Kalamazoo and now leads the Wildcats with three wins this season.

At the plate, Tyminski continued to have a strong day as she went 2-for-3 and hit her second double of the day from the designated hitter position. Kaitlyn Luedtke (Spring Lake Park, Minn.) also had an impressive day as she went 2-for-4 with one run scored and two stolen bases, while Larissa Karl (Buffalo Lake, Minn.) had a double.

Cassie Rooney (Plymouth, Minn.) picked up the only Wildcat RBI in the low-scoring affair to send Raven Baker (Minneapolis, Minn.) across the plate for her fourth run of the season.

With the win, the Wildcats improve to 8-5 on the season. They are scheduled to open Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) play on Tuesday, April 2 at Hamline University.
