After six games in three days, the St. Catherine University softball team hoped that a day off from competition would help keep it on the winning track against the Indiana Institute of Technology and Colby College Tuesday in Clermont, Fla.

Despite getting a home run from senior Ashley Matthys (Elk River, Minn.) against Indiana Tech, the Wildcats fell 10-2 in five innings before suffering a 10-4 loss to Colby.

Indiana Tech tallied seven runs in the first two innings to make a comeback difficult for the Wildcats. However, in just her fourth game played this season, Matthys cranked her second home run of the season to bring Callie Boelter (LeSueur, Minn.) across the plate in the top of the third to cap off the Wildcat scoring in thie first game.

Jessica Tyminski (Champlin, Minn.) picked up the only other Wildcat hit of the day when she singled in the top of the fifth inning.

In the second game against Colby, the Wildcats managed to come up with 12 hits but couldn't find away to bring the runs across the plate. Shae Elliott (Richfield, Minn.) had two hits and an RBI, while Kaitlyn Luedtke (Spring Lake Park, Minn.) and Matthys each went 2-for3 and scored a run.

With the losses, the Wildcats fall to 7-4 on the season and will play their final two spring games Wednesday against Loras College (5 p.m.) and Kalamazoo College (7 p.m.).
