Box Score Just one day after dropping a tough 3-0 loss to Saint Mary's University at home, the St. Catherine University volleyball team couldn't find a way to slow down two more of the leagues' top hitters in Laura Avena and Brooke Hunter as it suffered a 3-0 (25-14, 25-17, 25-19) to Macalester College Saturday afternoon in St. Paul.
Avena and Hunter combined for 27 of the Scots 46 kills, while Avena added seven block assists to lift the Scots to victory. Despite falling to the Scots, the Wildcats received another strong defensive performance as four different players recorded seven digs a piece and the team posted five blocks.
Karsee Knutson (New London, Minn.) again fueled the Wildcat offense as she compiled 23 assists and two kills for a team best .667 hitting percentage. The junior also added five digs and a block assist to help defensively.
Amber Zeiher (LeSueur, Minn.) led the Wildcats with six kills with a .250 hitting percentage, while
Jana Christensen (North Mankato, Minn.) also had six with a .222 hitting percentage. Zeiher also led the Wildcats with four block assists and added two digs.
Maddy Mullins (Caledonia, Minn.) also matched Zeiher and Christensen with six kills of her own.
The Wildcats return home for another conference contest Wednesday as they take on nationally-ranked Augsburg College at 7 p.m. in the
Butler Center.
