Oles too much for Wildcats in 3-0 MIAC loss

Danielle Mendez posted three saves in the WIldcat loss Saturday to St. Olaf
Box Score After suffering a tough loss to Gustavus Adolphus College Tuesday on its home field, the St. Catherine University soccer team faced a tough test as it traveled to take on St. Olaf College - a team with one of the top records in the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) this season.

Unfortunately for the Wildcats, the Oles continued to play at a high-level as they handed the Wildcats a difficult 3-0 loss Saturday afternoon in Northfield, Minn.

The Wildcats were outmatched as they managed just two shots on goal as compared to six for the Oles. St. Olaf also dominated in corner kicks with an 11-0 advantage.

After managing to hold the Oles scoreless heading into the break with a 0-0 tie, the Wildcats couldn't keep their opponent quiet much longer as Kajsa Brindley took advantage of a penalty kick to put the Oles on the board 1-0 less than five minutes into the second half. The Wildcats gave up an own goal less than 20 minutes later and then added another insurance goal with less than three to play.

Danielle Mendez (Bloomington, Minn.) posted three saves in the Wildcats' loss, while Nina Bukowski (Two Harbors, Minn.) and Kelly Molitor (Lakeville, Minn.) each added a shot on goal.

With the loss, the Wildcats fall to .500 on the season at 7-7-0 overall and 2-5-0 in conference play. The Wildcats are back in action Wednesday as the head across town to take on the University of St. Thomas at 3:30 p.m. in St. Paul.
