The softball team traveled to New Ulm, MN Monday afternoon for a non-conference match up vs. Martin Luther.
In the first game of the double header, the Wildcats got things going early with
Jessica Kniefel scoring from third on a double from
Alyssa McKee in the top of the first inning.
Martin Luther would tie things up in the sixth inning. St. Kate's would respond in the seventh when
Raven Baker doubled to left field, advanced to third on an error and later scored. That would be all the Wildcat defense and pitcher
Morgan Bohmbach would need to pick up the 2-1 win.
The second game would start much differently, with Martin Luther scoring three in the first inning to jump to a 3-1 lead.
Sarah McLennan would settle in on the mound for the Wildcats and not allow another run, while striking out six and scattering eight hits in the game. St. Kate's would gather momentum between the fourth and seventh innings, plating eight runs and putting the game out of reach to complete the sweep with an 8-3 victory.
