The Wildcats had a rough afternoon Tuesday on the softball diamond. The Scots of Macalester College bested St. Kate's in both ends of the double-header (5-12, 4-8).
Macalester came out firing in game one, scoring five runs in the first two innings and never looking back. St. Kate's mounted a late rally, plating four runs in the fifth, but it was too little too late as the Scots would at six more in the top of the seventh to put the game well out of reach.
The second game started in similar fashion for the visitors as they again scored five runs in the first three innings. The Wildcats would score three in the third, a big two-run home run by
Ashley Matthys would help get things going. Matthys would tally three RBI in the game to lead the offense, but Macalester would again be too much as they stretched the lead in the late innings for the 8-4 win.
