At the Central Tournament, the Wildcats first squared off against their hosts in an epic first match of the weekend. St. Kate's dropped the first two sets to Loras before coming back to take the second two sets, but their hosts were eventually able to pull out the 3-2 win. The Wildcats returned to the court to take on Loras, who handed the Wildcats a 3-1 loss.
Central won a 25-21, 25-16, 25-27, 14-25, 15-12 victory over the Wildcats, whose comeback fell only a few points short. The Wildcats played strong defense to keep themselves in the match, with three players compiling at least 17 digs, but the team gave away a few too many points on errors to collect a win.
Jordyn Wentland served up four aces and 23 set assists to lead the team.
In their second match of the evening, the Wildcats easily won their first game against Loras, before Loras won three close sets and the Wildcats fell 25-12, 22-25, 23-25, 21-25. Wentland put together her second solid game with four more aces and 27 assists.
Brittni Wangerin added five aces and 12 kills.
The Wildcats play Bethel on Saturday morning at 9 am to conclude the tournament.
