The Wildcats faced their first conference opponent of the year on Wednesday and despite playing in close matches every set, were dropped by the Knights 3-0. Carleton was able hold off the Wildcats when it mattered, winning 25-16, 25-21, 25-23. Carleton is now 7-2 on the season (1-0 MIAC), while St. Kate's moves to 8-2 (0-1).
The Wildcats helped the Knights out with a tough night on serve, as they committed 10 erros to only five aces. With 25 attacking errors (to 12 from Carleton) the Wildcats gave the Knights plenty of opportunity and they took full advantage.
Stephanie Meschke had a solid night for the Wildcats, with 5 kills and only one attack error.
Kelsey Wirtanen and
Kayla Sis both had 8 kills and
Callie Teigen had 17 digs.
The Wildcats will look to get back on track this weekend as they head to Chicago for the Aurora University Tournament.
