La Verne defeats soccer on West Coast trip

The Wildcat soccer team faced a tough task on Saturday evening, playing their second game in as many days, with only 11 players available to take on the University of La Verne.  Despite playing the entire game with no subs, the Wildcats went into the half tied 1-1, before eventually falling 3-1.

Junior Liesl Wolf put the Wildcats on the board in the first half with a brilliant shot on a free kick that found the back of the net.  In the second half, the Wildcats put together one of their strongest offensive efforts all season, but couldn't convert in the end, and La Verne was able to slip a few goalds past a tiring Wildcat defense at the end of the game.  St. Kate's had 16 shots on the evening, and keeper Abbey Hinton made 15 saves in the loss.

The Wildcats return home from Portland and will take on Carleton College on Wednesday September 14 at 4 pm in their first MIAC game of the season.
